How to Download/Save Images Using Google Image Search

Google’s Image Search results are sometimes so impressive that you want to save some of those images to your device.

Google’s Image Search results are sometimes so impressive that you want to save some of those images to your device. If you have found yourself in this situation, let’s explore how to download those images from your search results.

This is for mobile and desktop devices. Screenshots are from Windows 10 and iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16+

Save Images On Desktop

To download an image on a desktop, you just pick your image, click an option, and your image is saved to your computer.

First, launch your favorite web browser on your computer and open Google Image Search. There, find the image you want to save to your machine. Refer to the below image:

Next, on the search results page, access the image that you want to download. See the below image:

Now, right-click your image, and from the menu that opens, choose to Save image as. See the following image:

Next, your browser will open your computer’s standard Save As window. Here, select a folder to save your image in, type your image name in the File Name field, then click Save. Refer to the below image:

Now, you have successfully downloaded your favorite image from your Image Search results. If you are not sure exactly where the image file went, check your Downloads folder from File Explorer.

If your downloaded file is of low resolution, then try downloading that image directly from the source site. To do that, on the Image Search results page, click the link, beneath the image, and not the image, to be taken to the image site. There, right-click the image and choose Save image as.

Download Images On Mobile

On your mobile phone, you can download images from Google’s Image Search results using Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge. Mozilla Firefox does not offer the option to save images.

To start, first, open your web browser (we are using Safari) and launch Google Image Search or type into the search box “images.google.com”. Find the image you would like to save to your phone.

Next, on the search results page, tap the image to download. See the below image:

Now, on your image full-screen page, tap and hold the image. See the following image:

Next, on iPhone or iPad, from the menu that opens in Safari, tap Save to Photos. Refer to the below image:

Select the option to save your image

Your iPhone will download and save the image on your local storage or in our example using Safari, your Photos app. See the below image:

How to Deactivate the Home Screen Search Button on iPhone

Starting with iOS 16, the iPhone Home screen includes a small Search button located just above the dock. If you find the addition annoying, Apple makes it easy to remove the Search button.

Starting with iOS 16, the iPhone Home screen includes a small Search button located just above the dock. If you find the addition annoying, Apple makes it easy to remove the Search button. Let’s explore this easy fix.

Apple likely added the new search button in iOS 16 because launching Spotlight Search on an iPhone had previously been a mysterious process (you swipe downward with one finger in the middle of the Home screen.) With the new button, all you have to do is tap it, and Spotlight opens instantly. Refer to the below image:

To remove this Search button, first, open Settings on your iPhone by tapping the Gear icon. See the below image:

Next, in Settings, scroll down and tap Home Screen. See the following image:

Now, on Home Screen settings, locate the section labeled Search and toggle the Show on Home Screen to the OFF position. Refer to the below image:

ANext, exit Settings, and you will see that the Search button has been replaced with the Home screen page number dots like iOS 15 and earlier. See the below image:

These dots visually show you the Home screen you are on. You can hold your finger on them, then slide it to quickly scroll through your Home screen pages.

Even after you disable this Search button, you can swipe downward with one finger in the middle of the Home screen to open Spotlight search.

How to Navigate Outlook’s New Search Feature

Recently, Microsoft has changed how the Search works. It is now more robust with many new options. The Search box is now located at the top of the screen in the title bar. This is called Microsoft Search and is available in both client and web apps.

The Search Box

Refer to below image for the new Search box:

First, you will notice the Search box is bigger and longer. Also, Microsoft has added two keyboard shortcuts; CNTL+E and ALT+Q for those people who favor the keyboard over a mouse.

Now when you click inside the Search box or use a keyboard shortcut, a menu appears that shows recent searches, people and actions. See following image:

The menu is in a fixed position and covers up a lot of tools found on the Search tab ribbon. If you want to access these tools you have click on a blank space outside the Search results. See below image:

Using the Search Box

As you type in the Search box, the menu will filter down search terms, people, and actions to match what you type. This is the biggest change in Microsoft Search: it no longer just searches through email. The new feature searches everything in Outlook, including Outlook functionality.

If you want to know how to edit emails, type “edit” in the Search box and, below any emails that match the word, the menu will display relevant commands. Refer to below image:

Filter Your Search

Unlike the old Search, Outlook now has a much better and easier user interface for filtering your search. Click the drop-down arrow next to the Search box and a simple search menu appears. See following image:

Type into these filters and Outlook will automatically add the correct syntax to the Search box (as noted below). You no longer need to remember the right commands to type. Refer to below image:

You are not limited to the default search fields, now you can change the default search fields as well. Just click Add More Options. This will bring up additional options you can turn on or off. Click Apply when you’re done.See below image:

If you’re not a fan of the new dropdown, the Search tab on the ribbon is still there, although now it only appears when you click into the Search box, then click on a blank space in the ribbon. See following image:

The new Search has more power and functionality than the old Search box and provides more screen space for your actual emails. It’s a definite improvement. Enjoy the new Search feature.
